Who We Help
Does any of this sound familiar?
Insurance is one of those things you don’t think about until something goes wrong. By then it’s too late to change what’s in your policy. These are the situations Kelli’s clients describe — before and after they called her.
Homeowners
My premium jumped $700 at renewal and I haven’t filed a single claim.”
Colorado insurers raised rates 18–34% in 2024 due to hail losses and rising construction costs — even for customers with perfect records. Most homeowners just pay it. What almost nobody checks: whether the coverage actually kept pace with what it would cost to rebuild today.
The rate went up. Your protection may not have. Kelli reviews both — free.
Homeowners
“I thought hail was covered. It was — but the payout was $3,000 on an $18,000 roof.”
Hail is covered. But buried in many Colorado policies is an actual cash value clause that pays your roof’s depreciated worth — not what it costs to replace it today. The difference can be $10,000 to $15,000 out of your own pocket. Most homeowners find out after the storm.
Kelli reads your roof settlement terms before hail season does.
Drivers
“Someone with no insurance rear-ended me. Now what?”
1 in 6 Colorado drivers carries no insurance. When they hit you, your recovery depends entirely on your own policy — not theirs. State minimum coverage (25/50/15) protects other people from you. It often doesn’t protect you from them. Most drivers don’t understand this until they’re in the middle of a claim.
Uninsured motorist coverage exists for exactly this. Kelli explains what you have — and what you’re missing.
Business Owners
“I have general liability. I assumed that covered my business.”
GL covers physical injury and property damage. It doesn’t cover a client who loses money because of your advice. It doesn’t cover employee injuries. It doesn’t cover a data breach. Most Colorado Springs small business owners carry GL and nothing else — and don’t discover the gaps until a lawsuit arrives.
Kelli reviews your business coverage against your actual risk — industry, employees, clients, assets.
New Homeowners
“My lender approved my policy. I assumed that meant it was good.”
Lenders require minimum coverage. Minimum protects their investment — the mortgage balance. It doesn’t automatically cover rebuilding costs, your personal belongings, liability, or the endorsements Colorado homes specifically need. The policy your bank accepted is a floor, not a ceiling.
Kelli reviews new homeowner policies and shows you what the minimum leaves out.
Families
“If something happened to me tomorrow, my family would be in serious trouble.”
Term life insurance for a healthy 35-year-old can cost less than a streaming subscription per month. Most families are under-insured or not insured at all — not because they don’t care, but because no one sat down and showed them what it actually costs versus what it covers.
Kelli walks through life insurance options in plain English — no pressure, no jargon.

How much does homeowners insurance cost in Colorado Springs?
Homeowners insurance in Colorado Springs typically costs $1,800–$3,200 per year. Your roof’s age and condition, proximity to hail or wildfire risk zones, and your home’s actual rebuilding cost are the biggest factors. Colorado’s high hail frequency and rising construction costs push premiums above the national average.
What most homeowners don’t realize is that the premium isn’t the only number that matters — their coverage limit needs to keep pace with what it would actually cost to rebuild today. Those two numbers are often different. Kelli reviews both in every free policy review.
What does homeowners insurance NOT cover in Colorado?
Standard Colorado homeowners policies typically exclude sewer and drain backup, flood damage, earthquakes, underground utility line failures, mold from slow leaks, and equipment breakdown. Most homeowners discover these exclusions during a claim — not when they buy the policy.
Each gap requires a separate endorsement, and none are automatically explained at the time of sale. Sewer backup alone costs $8,000–$25,000 when it happens and only $50–$100 per year to add. Kelli reviews every exclusion in your policy before you need to find out the hard way.
Does homeowners insurance cover hail damage in Colorado?
Yes — but many Colorado policies now use a separate wind and hail deductible of 1–2% of your home’s insured value, not your standard deductible. On a $400,000 home that’s $4,000–$8,000 out of pocket before insurance pays anything. Some policies also pay your roof’s depreciated value, not what it costs to replace it today.
Colorado averages over 9 hail events per year. The difference between a depreciated payout and full replacement cost can be $10,000–$15,000 on a single claim. Kelli identifies your roof’s settlement terms before a storm does.
How much is car insurance in Colorado Springs?
Full coverage auto insurance in Colorado Springs averages $1,400–$2,200 per year depending on your driving record, vehicle, age, and ZIP code. Colorado requires minimum liability of $25,000 per person, $50,000 per accident, and $15,000 property damage — but those minimums are rarely enough in a serious accident.
The bigger issue is what the policy actually covers when something goes wrong. About 1 in 6 Colorado drivers carries no insurance. If one of them hits you, whether you’re protected depends entirely on your own policy. Kelli reviews your rate and your coverage gaps — including uninsured motorist protection — in every free auto review
Do I need uninsured motorist coverage in Colorado?
Yes — Holt Agency strongly recommends it. About 1 in 6 Colorado drivers carries no insurance. If one of them hits you near Colorado Springs, uninsured motorist coverage pays your medical bills and lost wages. Without it, you absorb those costs yourself regardless of who was at fault.
Colorado does not legally require this coverage, which is why most agents don’t bring it up. It is one of the highest-value, lowest-cost additions to any auto policy. Kelli reviews your uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage in every auto policy conversation.
What insurance does a small business in Colorado Springs need?
Most Colorado Springs small businesses need general liability, commercial property insurance, and — if they have any employees — workers compensation, which is legally required in Colorado. Professional liability, commercial auto, and business interruption coverage depend on your industry and risk.
General liability is a starting point, not a complete solution. It covers physical injury and property damage — not professional errors, data breaches, or employee injuries. A Business Owner Policy (BOP) bundles general liability and commercial property at lower combined cost. Kelli reviews your industry, employee count, and actual risk to find the right combination.
What makes Holt Agency different from other insurance agents in Colorado Springs?
Kelli Holt reviews both what your policy covers and what it excludes — in plain English, before a claim reveals it. Most agents explain coverage. Kelli explains the exclusions too. She has been doing this in Colorado Springs for 25 years with a team of four licensed agents.
The conversation most agents skip is the one Kelli has first — what is NOT in your policy, which gaps carry real financial risk, and what it costs to close them. You leave every review knowing exactly where you stand, whether you end up switching to Kelli or not. Call (719) 434-5588 for a free, no-obligation policy review.
